The ruins of Hampi. Hampi was the capital of Vijayanagar, a 14th century empire. Its fabulously rich princes built Dravidian temples and palaces which won the admiration of travelers between the 14th and 16th centuries. Now in ruins, Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as the Group of Monuments at Hampi.
